Things To Do

Psychiatry for Mishandled Cuddly Toys
This is a wonderful  free game where you can diagnose and treat various stuffed animals for their neuroses. Very highly recommended. This is a German site, so be sure to click on the American or British flag if you want the English-language version.

Poke the Penguin
Exactly what it says. Mindless, but more fun than it sounds. Be sure to play several times.

Everett Kaser Games  New!
Everett Kaser has been making first-class computer games since just about forever. Most of them are based around making logical deductions from different types of visual clues. These games can last a lifetime; many of them have thousands of boards. Download the demos and try them for free. (Requires Windows or an emulator; a few games are still available in DOS format.)

KPixGames  New!
Here you can download demos to try out a trio of visual puzzle games: Loopical, PathPix, and PrismaPix. They are all terrific, though my favorite is Loopical. (Requires Windows or an emulator.)

Things To See and Hear

Diet Coke and Mentos Fountain  New!
In this must-see video, two guys create a dynamic multi-jet fountain using only Diet Coke, Mentos, and geek power. Great fun!

Animusic  New!
Wonderful computer animations of self-playing fantasy instruments, set to various styles of music. On this site you can watch snippets from each animation. Be warned, though, that if you like this sort of thing, you may wind up buying the DVDs! My favorite piece is called "Resonant Chamber," from Animusic 2.

Lennex  New!
Wonderful indie rock band that runs the gamut from grunge to mellow jazz-influenced stuff. If you don't like one bit, wait two minutes and the style will be completely different. Beautiful melodies, interesting harmonies, and I like the way singer Phil Ritchie uses his voice. Go to their media page and you can listen to a selection of nine full-length songs from their second and third albums. WARNING: The lyrics to some tracks are R-rated; definitely not child- or work-safe. But if that's not a concern for you, I strongly recommend that you give Lennex a try.
